The Song Of 01/19/2017: Alice Jemima – No Diggity

Let it all stay on Jan, 19.

No diggity
I got to bag it up

Time to slow the hell down and…
move forward.

Luckily tomorrow is Friday.

A beautiful calm melody of ‘No diggity’ song today. Soft tender voice of English singer Alice Jemima makes the cover perfect. Btw, it’s the cover of the cover. You may think, ‘No Diggity’ is a song of Australian musician Chet Faker. So no, it’s not. You should know the roots. Originally it’s an R&B song of American band Blackstreet. The one, that’s about bad guys, nice girls and big good love.

It wasn’t that soft in 1996, when it was originally released. But always was a hit.

1996 –  number one on the Billboard Hot 100, in New Zealand, number nine in the United Kingdom.
Number 91 on Rolling Stone and MTV: 100 Greatest Pop Songs.
1998 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals;
Nominated for Grammy Award for Best R&B Song.

2013 – back to the top forty of the UK Singles Chart.

The World’s song:
1996 – USA
2010 – Australia
2013 – UK.

…to be continued.
