The Song Of 12/17/2016: Eric Clapton – Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

Classics today. The song was written by Harold Arlen (music) and E.Y. Harburg (lyrics) in 1939 for the movie ‘The Wizard Oz’. Actress Judy Garland sang this song originally. Then it’s become Frank Sinatra’s hit, then…
Who didn’t cover?

Eric Clapton’s version is more bluesy. Plus, it sounds closer to today’s cover that I enjoyed on Santa Monica pier…

Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can’t I?

I can.
Flying tomorrow morning.
Going to enjoy that blue sky and to be closer to my dreams at least for the half of the day. Sure, flights are long and exhausting, but it’s a big pleasure to be detached for the rest of the world for a day.
No bother.

Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
